Book Review: Casual Misogyny Ruins Other (Possibly Very Good) Messages in Rainn Wilson’s Soul Boom

Reader, let me tell you I have been seeking a spiritual place in this world for almost two decades since I left Christianity circa age 20. I was raised Catholic, and when my friend invited me to participate in the churchy events at her church, I was dazzled by the warm, fun atmosphere that was a stark contrast from the distant, cold, funerial ceremonies I’d been raised in. What? Church can be fun? Church can involve Doritos and Capri Sun? Count me in!
Even though I left the church completely so long ago, I still miss the camaraderie of my evangelical teenage years, the feeling that I belonged and was welcome somewhere reliably, consistently every week, and for free*!
